Love there service, feels like my child is being taken care of by family every visit!!
I loved the nurse Caroline Lambert ❤️
Dr. Caroline was great! She made us feel welcomed & met the kids on their level. She gave helpful information and was super fun while doing so. Great experience
I recently moved here to Hammond and has had nothing but great service here but we saw Dr. Caroline Lambert she’s was amazing, exceptional, funny and fun. The kids loved her even before she allowed them to go in her Barbie Box. She was present the entire appointment, while the nurse practitioner was taking their vitals she trying to get my son comfortable. She’s by far the best pediatrician I’ve come across!!
After a few not so great experiences, TODAY WAS ALL THAT IT SHOULD BE every time and so much more! I met with a new N.P, Christine Lambert, she was amazing, went above and beyond to address my concerns as well as holistically care for my child. My toddler was completely comfortable and happy when leaving, although he had shots. The nurse was great as well while administering the shots. We were considering changing PCP for a while now, but after today we feel “waiting it out” was well worth the decision. She is definitely a good fit for pediatrics
We saw a new NP today, Mrs. Caroline, and she was amazing. She took her time with my 15 month old making sure not to miss anything, she listened to all of my concerns and also gave great suggestions and advice for all of my children not just the one being seen! We will be back to see her soon!
We’ve been following Dr. Anath for the past seven years, and we couldn’t be happier with the care my kids receives
Children’s international is the best pediatric clinic in Hammond, la. Caroline lambert was so kind to us. If you haven’t experienced services from her I suggest you schedule an appt for your child today.
The doctor took time with my son who's autistic and who needs to move slow at things she was really patient and understanding and really helpful.

Pediatrician in Hammond, LA

Mamatha Ananth, M.D., F.A.A.P.

General Pediatrician

Dr. Mamatha Ananth was born and raised in Bangalore, India. She graduated from Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences of Bangalore University. During medical school, she developed a deep love for working with children. She saw personally that children who grew up with proper nurture and care, the most fundamental form of that being access to healthcare, grew into strong adults, both physically and mentally.

In 1993, she took the next step in her medical journey with a pediatric residency at Rush Presbyterian Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. After completing residency, in pursuit of a pediatric nephrology fellowship at Tulane University, she moved to the New Orleans area which has since become her home.

Learn More About Dr. Ananth

Over the next 20 years, she focused on becoming a strong clinician by gaining pediatric experience that ranged from the care of children in both in-patient and out-patient settings to working in the emergency room. In 2011, she joined LSU New Orleans and was a teaching faculty member with the Department of Pediatrics and Family Medicine. In this role, she enjoyed being able to share her experience and knowledge with the next generation of physicians. During this time, she was the Director of the Newborn Nursery at Our Lady of Angels Hospital located in Bogalusa, Louisiana, where she took care of the majority of both well and sick newborns in partnership with the local area neonatologists.

Dr. Ananth strongly promotes healthy lifestyle with a focus on breast feeding, nutritious diet, and the importance of exercise. She also believes in the importance of reading and early education. “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is reflected in the attention she pays to well care, immunizations, and injury prevention. She holds a deep connection to her community here in Louisiana and has spearheaded a forum on STI prevention in local schools initialized in Washington Parish.

On a personal note, Dr. Ananth lives on the Northshore with her husband. She has two children who live in the northeast and are pursuing their dreams. She thoroughly enjoys the company of her third child, her dog Cocoa. In her spare time she enjoys walking, riding her bike, or reading near Lake Ponchartrain.

Frequently Asked Questions About Pediatricians And Nurse Practitioners

What Is A Pediatrician?

Pediatricians are doctors who manage the health of your child, including physical, behavior, and mental health issues. They’re trained to diagnose and treat childhood illnesses, from minor health problems to serious diseases.

Pediatricians have an education that gives them special skills to take care of your child’s health. They graduated from medical school and completed a 3-year residency program in pediatrics before working as a pediatrician in a pediatric clinic.

What Does A Pediatrician Do?

They’ll see your child many times from birth to age 2 and once a year from ages 2 to 5 for “well-child visits.” After age 5, your pediatrician will continue to see your child every year for annual checkups (aka well visits). They’re also the first person you should call when your child is sick.

To take care of your child, your pediatrician will:

  • Do physical exams
  • Give your child vaccinations
  • Make sure your child meets milestones in growth, behavior, and skills
  • Diagnose and treat your child’s illnesses, infections, injuries, and other health problems
  • Give you information about your child’s health, safety, nutrition, and fitness needs
  • Answer your questions about your little one’s growth and development
  • Refer you to specialists if they think your child needs expert care.

Does My Child Need A Pediatrician?

Some reasons why your child needs a pediatrician are:

  • They have years of special training in children’s health.
  • They only see children in their practice, so they have a lot of experience in recognizing and treating childhood illnesses.
  • If your child was born early or has a health condition that needs close monitoring, a pediatrician may offer more specialized care.

How Much Education Does A Pediatrician Have?

A pediatrician must first graduate from medical school before going on to specialize in the field of pediatrics. They need to complete four years of college, then four years of medical school, and then three or more years in an accredited residency program for pediatricians.

How Much Education Does A Nurse Practitioner Have?

For a Nurse Practitioner, their 4-year degree must be in nursing. After earning a BSN, they complete a master’s degree program that trains them to be a nurse practitioner (NP). NP degrees can take 2 to 4 years to complete.
